Project Overview

Completed in 2021, The Ridge House exemplifies EPDA's commitment to merging modern design with the natural landscape. This project showcases a harmonious blend of concept design and architectural execution, resulting in a residence that seamlessly integrates with its environment while celebrating material contrast and composition.

Project Details

EPDA approached this project with a vision to create a home that not only offers aesthetic appeal but also resonates with its natural surroundings. The design emphasizes clean lines, open volumes, and the use of tactile materials that reflect the landscape’s tones and textures.

A defining architectural gesture is the elegant interface between warm wood paneling and sharp metal elements — a subtle yet deliberate contrast that gives the structure its distinct visual identity. This interplay not only softens the modernist geometry but also accentuates the craftsmanship in detailing. The crisp black steel beams and frames juxtapose the timber's organic warmth, echoing the home's balance between industrial structure and natural grounding.

One of the project’s challenges was ensuring that the structure complemented the terrain without dominating it. EPDA addressed this through the use of terraced levels, horizontal massing, and expansive glazing that connects interior spaces to panoramic views. Sustainability and efficiency were core to the concept, with passive design strategies and natural ventilation integrated from inception.
